Yeah, and for the record, I'm jealous of you guys who get tolisten to something all day. The silence in the joint can be deafening.
But then of course some retard comes in and starts in singing along to Pete Yorn with earphones on and a metronome.
So I guess silence can be golden.

Not to namedrop or anyting, but Mars is still agood buddy and we get reports back form the road. Everyone's kissed and made up (WITH Richard) and the band is rocking it like nobody's business worldwide, and making bank like they did in the eighties. I like happy endings. I interviewed Richard years ago and he was a very unhappy person. Bitched about Elvis Costello daring to cover Pretty in Pink in concert. Interviewed him again more recently and he was a totally changed person, fun to talk to, grateful for the band's renewed success, and gave me his home phone number in case I had any followup questions. Something clearly changed in his life.

Something clearly changed in his life. First off: FUCKING NAME DROPPER! Secondly: I remember seeing Love Spit Love on the first tour (I love both those records) and RB did nothing but sing, then put a lit cigar in his mouth, snap his fingers and spin in a circle. NO audience connection at all. Of course, folks yelled for Furs tunes all night, but he played none nor responded to the requests (I don't blame him), but, while he looked (and sounded) cool as fuck, I thought "Wow, that dude has issues."

Ed Sheeran "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" Live at Abbey Road.
Joy Formidable "Whirring" acoustic at Reading 2011.
and Ryan Adams w/ Laura Marling performing a completely sublime version of "Oh My Sweet Carolina" from Live at Abbey Road.

That Ryan & Laura tune IS sublime. Never heard of her til now. One of my favorite. I'm on a private UK torrent BB (thebox.bz) and there's a guy on there that caps all the music programming on UK tv. One of the best is "Live from Abbey Road", and that clip demonstrates why. If you have a higher quality version you can actually hear their chairs squeaking as they lean into the mics.

On CD changer: 1) Bonus disc to "Some Girls" deluxe. It is so good! 2) Jack Oblivian, "Rat City." My choice for last year's best rock 'n' roll album. 3) Lady Gaga, "Born This Way" (deluxe edition) 4) Bowie Live at Nassau Colliseum, disc 2 (thanks, Lee) 5) Black Keys, "El Camino"
