The new Johnny Marr is pretty outstanding, though I'd be surprised if it was getting played anywhere other than Rodney on the Roq.

So as you all know I post here what I am forced to listen to, not by my choosing, at work - which some days its The Replacements rehearsing for RiotFest (they called- they are coming back BTW- woot!)other days its the latest Emo/Metal/Screamo whiney ass shit that Tony is auditioning for Victory Records.
Well yesterday some client came in who must have a room right over my desk and he cranked his stereo pre-rehearsal, I am assuming, to get in the groove. Flooded my office with the most awesome late eighties, early nineties playlist EVER - It ranged from the Rolling Stones, to The Cars, to Melissa Etheridge, and back to Bon Jovi & Joan Jett - every fucking thumping kick ass song - Made my Friday afternoon- two hours of hair raising in your face music so loud I couldn't take a phone call.
Best part? the morons in the office were all walking around exclaiming how "good" this band was and that they really had some "great tunes" - um yeah - duh. When I tried to explain that what they were hearing was a someone playing their playlist through their speakers in their rehearsal space they didn't get it - fucking hilar. (I'm so mean)

That made me shake my head, but I'm glad that you had a nice afternoon and a nice laugh/facepalm.

I'm a bit concerned because I've been listening to Queen a lot lately. Like, all the time. And I don't really know why. Now, I know what you're saying...what's wrong with Queen? Well, my album pick lately is "Hot Space". I won't get into how I think it's a really underrated record that has a bad rap for "social reasons". Not here, not now.

I think getting into a Queen groove is perfect for the late winter doldrums- makes me think spring is coming- don't ask me why. Probably because I remember I first really started digging Queen in 9th grade- late March- ski season was wrapping up and someone kept playing Bohemian Rhapsody on their boom box at the back of the ski bus -

Wow, Hot space, huh? I haven't spun that one since the first time...back in 82 or whenever it came out. Coming off of "The Game" (a stellar album through and through), Hot Space was just not what my teenage head was expecting, maybe enuff time has gone by that I can see it for the groundbreaking work of genius that it is...or not.

Well, to put it in perspective, I've gone through News Of The World & The Game already (2 high school touchstone records). I've even had a "Jazz" period (and that's saying something). Your thoughts are correct. I wouldn't have anything to do with HS back in 1982 because it can't touch The Game. I think their timing was off on springing that record on people. And, quite honestly, there are not any monster smashes like The Game had - Body Language is just a terrible lead single. Full disclosure: I have a soft spot for underdogs/things you're supposed to hate, so that's probably the best explanation I can give (NOT that ANY explanation is NEEDED!!!).

Also, Boots, I like your theory, but I don't think it applies to me, as we just had the warmest February on record. I know, we suck.
