I'd be fine most of the time, but then there would be four of the sappiest Carpenters songs in a row or some Alanis or Archies or the like. Since we're allowed to embarrass ourselves in a thread, I bought a used Carpenters CD just the other day. "A Kind Of Hush". Remastered. The Archies KILL Alanis. Also, I highly recommend the 3rd Primitives album, which is kind of like a lost album, as barely came out. Well worth it.

Listening to Bowie/Metheny "This Is Not America" and harkening back to a time when guys like Metheny, and Ritenour were considered viable major label acts (back when jazz was still a thriving genre). Heck, when I worked in a record store in Chicago, I was taken aback by the breadth of, say, Dave Sanborn's discography. Tons of albums for Warner, and usually two or more a year.

I'm so dating Billpogo in the next life.
I'm listening to a guy learn how to play the keyboard and sing. He's been at it about 2 months now, started right before the holidays. He's writing and re-writing, and the whole song is starting to come together, it has a nice little melody and a wonderful lush loungey atmosphere with the organ. You find yourself humming it. Someone sign that kid- he's the next Jason Mraz!
At 4PM, when DeRo hits the drums though, it all gets cranked up a notch, GREAT way to end the day, all the assholes in the office freak out and have to groan and moan about the noise. Its acutally pretty good old fashioned power pop punk and I get my toe tapping and a spring in my step. If I've had coffee- look the fuck out.

Listening to Bowie/Metheny "This Is Not America" . Listened to that just the other day after not hearing it for years. Amazing shit. I need to dig deep into Bowie again. I'm afraid he's never going to tour again. And the Reality tour was So. Fucking. Awesome.

yep. I'd seen Bowie since the '80s, but never like that. Ridiculously great setlist.

I'm still amazed that SRV played on the Let's Dance album. I mean, you can tell its him, but he's doing what the songs need, not necessarily what you think he'd play, which just makes me respect (and miss) the guy that much more.

All the more sad that he was so strung out he couldn't do the tour. A bootleg exists of Bowie rehearsing with SRV for the tour. Saddest Bowie show I ever saw? NIN opened for Bowie at Universal Amphitheatre, did "I'm Afraid of Americans" with him, then half the crowd left. Bowie still killed, but I was appalled.
