linkHe can certainly afford to do anything and everything he wants. Bless him. How do you think Cobain would be at this point if he had lived through his addiction?

Hazza - I think your link is broken- or they took it down - at any rate I got an error page- but I don't need to see the article to concur. Like I said to you privately, I wouldn't turn his business down if it was the right thing, but I wouldn't buy another record or go see him live at the tea house - barf.

I hypothesized in a blog post last year that Corgan is what Cobain would have become had he lived long enough. It was mostly me thinking out loud about the complete inability for fans of alt rock to embrace their one-time idols into their 40's and 50s like past generations did for McCartney/Lou Reed/Iggy/Dylan. By the same token, Eddie Vedder must be going out of his mind to no longer be as relevant as he was...not to mention watching as the industry that once catered to your every whim now only gives half a shit about promoting your next album.
Still, who wouldn't kill to have Billy Corgan's woes?

Well there is that- he does pretty much get to write his own ticket. I'd start with a facelift. I think what Sean (LP) said at FB is pretty hilar- that he looks like he's missing a chromosome. He looked trippy, goth, creepy when he was young, but now he's verging on the Uncle Fester. Too mean? Yes, I cant help myself this is so much FUN!!
Oh and as to Cobain's relevance- interestingly the "nirvana" generation seem to hold less reverence for the mythos of Cobain than do us old farts who are still waxing nostalgic - we've talked about it- my staff all sort of fit that demographic- and they couldn't give two shits- they like the music, but the don't revere it if you know what I mean. And they associate Dave Grohl more with the Foos and The Vultures at this point.

It's ok to be mean, because Billy, let's face it, is an asshole. That's not an opinion either. What's very odd to me is that almost always, when I go back and listen to music I loved at one point in my life, I can relate to WHY I liked it, even if I don't like it now all that much (examples: Foreigner, Kung Fu Fighting). But when I hear the Pumpkins now, all I hear is how BAD they really are. GREAT Productions, don't get me wrong, but the playing is not very good, and the vocals...well, enough's been said about those.

I listen to only about 3 SP songs anymore and none of Billy's solo stuff. Three separate times I was set to interview him, and all three times he canceled at the last moment. And all three times I thought "Good!"

I sort of think I dreamt this (the last few days are a bit fuzzy) but I could swear I saw Billy and Jimmy on Good Morning America dancing with the Muppets.
(now who's batshit crazy huh?)

When I see you on the cover of Chicago Magazine (or whatever rag it was) with your cats, and your head is bald, THEN I will be happy to call you batshit. Also, that must have been a dream if Jimmy was there, but for all I know, he and Bill have kissed and made up yet again.
