I find myself avoiding some records that I loved just because they bring up some very bad memories. And it's a bit annoying because I loved the music at the time, but it brings up mixed emotions now.
There are certain records that bring you straight back to where you first heard them. The memories come rushing back good or bad.
Dunno.

Sinead O'Connor- the first album.
I tend to just spontaneously burst into tears - and I don't even like my ex-husband that much - but it takes me back instantly.

Any of the stuff my parents listened to.... Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, etc. It just makes me miss them. Same with James Taylor -- my best friend from high school was obsessed. I got to take her to see him front-row center about 10 years ago, and he jumped off the stage and played a song solo acoustic standing right next to her (JT jumping off a stage? Go figure). She suddenly died a few years back and now I have to turn it off if it's on the radio.
