Not one but two of Omnivore's releases from 2011 have been nominated in the 11th Independent Music Awards for Album Reissue! Big Star Third [Test Pressing Edition] and The Motels Apocalypso are up awards in the Reissue category. Plus, Big Star Third [Test Pressing Edition] picks up a second nod for Album Packaging designed by none other than Omnivore's very own Greg Allen!

Big Star deserves better than this. Having the release picked by Rolling Stone as the top RSD release last year, having the 2,000 copies sell out in hours, having the first run of vinyl from the latest Alex Chilton release sell out, having a documentary (produced by Omnivore) premiere at SXSW followed by a performance of the album featuring Jody, Mike Mills, Mitch Easter, Christ Stamey, Peter Buck, Tommy Stinson, Jon Auer, Ken Stringfellow and and having that soundtrack set for release on Omnivore seems to point that Big Star and their relationship with Omnivore is doing just fine.

Think he's just talking about the Indie Awards, Ginch.
Big Star deserve betterm all the way around. How that first record did not put them on-par with the Led Zeps and Aerosmiths of the day still astounds me. Freakin' crappy-ass label dropped the ball and hog-tied those guys.

No, I think that's exactly why he said he could record a fart. It wasn';t an attack upon Big Star, but upon the Indie Awards. Seriously, dude, nobody's arguing about the greatness of Big Star. We're all in agreeance that they deserved better from the word go.
To be made part of some Music Connection-level award show is beneath them, and Omnivore, and should be left to the ne'er-do-wells who can't mention enough times how the person who mastered their album won a Grammy back in 1987 or whatever.
I mean, I'd never heard of the Indie Music Awards until now and having researched it a little, it's kinda lame. Is it not? I mean, I wouldn't even hype that in my press if I were Omnivore, but I am not Omnivore, so feel free to dismiss my words completely.
