So, I arrived back in Austin TX early yesterday afternoon. The 22 hour drive left me toasted on both sides (which explains the TMI thread, or does it?)...the place I had supposedly cleared to move into upon my arrival won't be ready til Feb 15, which means I had to dump my stuff at a storage facility and will have to kill a few days doing god knows what (aka sleep in my car). So, after making a pilgrimage to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a coffeine injection, I wandered over to Half-Price Books and found this in the $1 Clearance bin: Considering I've long been a huge Tones fan, this made the whole trip worthwhile. But it got me thinking, is putting "tones" in your band name a one-way ticket to eternal obscurity and financial damnation? Fleshtones Textones Undertones Tones On Tail (changed their name to Love & Rockets, and voila!) Cretones (if you can name one of their songs, I'll eat my donkey's sombrero...might even stump Ginch on this one) Name me a modern rock band (none of those fifties acts) with 'tones in their name that has managed to make it big.

Tones Of Home and their big hit "Blind Melon".
And, um....I have both of The Cretones albums on Planet. You didn't know that by now? Wah!
